Well, there goes summer. Man, THAT went fast. I figured, since I didn’t end up posting about ANY of the projects, I should give an update to the things I posted two months ago, and how they fared.
Piano
Success, although not as intended. As far as learning the instrument, I didn’t improve in the way I wanted. HOWEVER, that being said, looking at music creation as a whole, I feel I was very successful. I’m well on my way to finished tracks, and I improved my music theory and production skils greatly, finally learning the rules of chord construction.
Electronics
Postponed. I scrapped this early on in the summer because I met my old high school electronics teacher, and he said he could assist me in getting the parts as soon as school was back in. I’m looking forward to hearing from him soon.
Education
Success. I completed my first University course with a B+, and look forward to more in the fall. My final project needed a little more fine tuning, but I learned a programming language in the process, and got to try some of the visual ideas I’ve been thinking of for a while.
Band Visuals
Not Yet. My dream of doing live visuals for a band haven’t come true yet, but I didn’t play around with projection mapping, and improved my visual production skills with the processing language and 3D skills, which leads me to my next success.
New Skills
Success. The last two weeks of summer became a really productive stint, where I taught myself Cinema 4D and new After Effects tricks. I’m looking forward to more 3D and After Effects tutorials, as it’s really opened up many possibilities for my motion graphics work. Top this off with the new language, and I would say it has been a very good summer.
New Demo Reel
Success, it should be finished tomorrow.
There were other success’s this summer, but they deserve there own post. I look back on this summer with very view regrets, and look to fall with hope, and a weekly planner, and pen.
