It’s really late to be posting this, but I have a good excuse. I couldn’t write about this stuff while it was in production, but it’s all open now.
Every Saturday, at 5pm on CityTV, starting January 5th, there will be a half-hour television show about the Manitoba Moose. The graphics were all produced in-house by myself and my producer.
The show has been something that has been talked about for a couple years now (from what I gather around the office) and only became a possible now that there are two video people.
“...in three weeks, we produced all the graphics for an entire television show.”
Once the “powers that be” decided their was going to be a show, it was time to decided who was to do what. A outside producer was hired and my producer and I were in charge of all the graphics and post-production (which, for my producer, includes editing show segments). So, in three weeks, we produced all the graphics for an entire television show, while doing all the graphics for our regular games, which in the case of this month, ment every Thursday/Friday. God damn.
December was a rough month. I think the only day I didn’t come to work was Christmas. The last week/first week of January was particularly bad, as we had four games that week, two of them being special events where all the game graphics needed to be changed (New Years and a Team Canada Tribute Game). I remember being here past midnight several nights that week.
So the first show was produced. There was a large board meeting with all the managers, myself, and the producers. Manger meetings are always nice if only for one reason, pizza and drinks. I think I ate half a pizza to myself (we had been up late the night before finalizing the show onto beta.)
I was actually expecting alot of criticism (this would be the first time they’ve seen or heard anything about the show since they approved it’s production two months prior.) I was surprised at how little they had to say about it. A couple questions about advertising and what other segments we were going to run. But overall they were quite satisfied with what we had done.
Unfortunately, that was one show. One out of eighteen. With weekley segments shot, cut, and put onto BETA for Friday mornings, so the television station can play it for Saturday.
So it looks like it will be a busy first quarter. But now you know what I’m doing when I’m not writing about whatever the hell I write about on this thing.
Be sure to catch Moose Rinkside on City TV at 5pm every Saturday!
